Shout Out to Fall Sports & Activities

It's only the second week of September, but did you know that some of our student athletes have been hitting the grind for awhile already? Sports seasons, such as football, are already weeks in, and athletes have been practicing since mid-summer. Student athletes must balance school and sports to be successful, but there are great rewards for involvement. The skills of time management, team work, perseverance, and commitment will last well beyond the students' high school years.

At WAVE, students are encouraged to get involved with sports and other activities that interest them. Students enrolled full-time at WAVE are able to participate in athletics, clubs, and other extra-curricular activities at one of the brick and mortar campuses.

Students, such as Dominick Swedeen (#59), are participating in their virtual studies at WAVE while also joining in sports offerings in the district. In addition to football, WAVE has students involved seasonally in tennis, swimming, softball, golf, and hockey. Furthermore, some students, like our junior hockey players and competitive gymnasts, participate in non-school athletics.

Not everyone is interested in sports, however. WAVE has the opportunity for student involvement in clubs and other activities at the physical campuses, as well as the unique opportunity to join the first virtual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club in the state. New members are always welcome at FBLA, and their next meeting is Saturday, September 14 (10:00-11:30) at the WAVE location in the Wausau Center Mall.

If you are wondering how you can get involved, reach out at ask. We would be happy to help you find something that interests you and help you get started.

Best of luck to all in your sports and activities!
